5 Juvederm Myths and Facts you Need to Know

Juvederm is dermal filler that is injected under the skin to help remove wrinkles. By doing this, it helps add volume to smooth lines by hydrating and firming the skin. However though this is a common wrinkle reduction method, there are some Juvederm myths and facts making its rounds.

Myth 1: Juvederm isn’t safe to use.

This is not true as it is made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in all biological organisms, including humans. It is produced without any animal substances and is FDA approved for use in people of all skin tones and types.

Myth 2: Juvederm is affective only after multiple treatments.

Myth 3: Juvederm is a painful process.

Myth 4: There are many side effects associated with Juvederm.

The common immediate after effects of Juvederm treatment are swelling and soreness of the affected area, redness or mild discoloration, stinging sensation, light bruising and itching. All of this lasts only for 1-7 days; however if these symptoms persist, contact your physician. Patients are advised not to expose the treated area to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Myth 4: Juvederm can be administered by cosmeticians and estheticians.

Though Juvederm is basically a non-invasive treatment, it is still considered a medical procedure as it has some minimal risks like bacterial infection. This is why it is advised to get your juevederm treatment from a licensed physician or medical practitioner.

Myth 5: Juvederm cannot be used with other cosmetic treatments.
