Let's Make It Right

Many women choose to undergo a breast revision because their current breast implants need to be updated, which is usually at about the 10-15 year mark.

Other patients may want their large breast implants to become smaller and need a complete surgical revision of making their new vision come to fruition. Some women are dissatisfied with how their original breast augmentation came out and now want a breast revision to make corrections as needed. When you are ready to make changes to your breast implants, call Dr. Schusterman for a Houston breast revision consultation. Dr. Schusterman is a double board certified Houston plastic surgeon and will discuss all your surgical options and determine how to meet your breast revision needs.

What is a Breast Revision?

A breast revision is a cosmetic surgical procedure to remove breast implants and revise the breasts with either new breast implants or revise the look of breasts by correcting the amount of fullness with or without the implants, fixing asymmetry issues and other malformations.

Breast Revision Procedure

Your breast revision surgery is essentially the same as your breast augmentation. You will be placed under general anesthesia, and the incision will be determined by Dr. Schusterman, based on your revision needs. Once your revision is complete, and your incision is closed, our Houston breast revision patients will be wrapped with a compression garment to minimize swelling. You may have tubes to help with fluid drainage.

How do I know if Breast Revision is right for me?

Your breast revision is highly individualized, and each procedure will differ from patient to patient. Some reasons for needing breast revision surgery include:

  • Your implants have shifted.
  • You are dissatisfied with your breast shape.
  • You are experiencing leakage or rupture of your breast implants.
  • There is a noticeable difference in the size or shape of your breasts.
  • You are experiencing unsightly wrinkling or rippling on the breast tissue.
  • There is tightness around the breast implants known as capsular contracture.

Breast Revision Recovery

Your recovery experience is similar to your experience with your breast augmentation. After their breast revision Houston patients will want to take at least one week off of work and avoid heavy lifting or other strenuous work for four weeks. Be sure to follow your post-op instructions provided by Dr. Schusterman.

Breast Revision Results

After the initial four weeks of recovery, you will see your breast revision results. It generally takes a few months for all swelling to go down. Breast revision results are permanent, and you should not need further revisions. Keep in mind your breast tissue will gradually show age over time.
