Myth no. 1:

Tummy tucks are meant only for women.

Fact: This is not true as there is an increasing number of men getting tummy tucks in Houston today. This is mainly attributed to the increasing obesity in men, where they undergo this procedure to get rid of aged and beer belly appearance, and for tightening sagging skin.

Myth no. 2:

Fact: This is not at all true as these Houston plastic surgeons need different training, specialization and some experience in the surgical procedure. If you are having a tuck done, choose a surgeon specializing in the procedure, and who is Plastic Surgeon certified by the board.

Myth no. 3:

There will be no scars after a tummy tuck.

Fact: Like any surgery, there will be scars after a tummy tuck. However the amount of scarring you experience depends on your body, your surgeon’s experience and techniques used, the amount of after care you take and how complex the surgery actually was. Usually, these surgeries leave a horizontal scar on the width of your body from hip to hip. Its extent depends on the amount of skin you lose.

Myth no. 4:

Tummy tuck results are not long lasting.

Fact: This depends on the person and the surgeon. Some people may not experience any pain or discomfort after the procedure, while others may experience some pain and soreness for as long as a year after the tummy tuck.
