Combine the Power of Botox Cosmetic and Dermal Fillers for Optimal Results

One of the most common misconceptions about using Botox Cosmetic and other dermal fillers is that you can only choose one of them.  The truth is you can actually benefit from injecting the same target area with both Houston Botox Cosmetic as well as dermal filler such as Houston Juvederm.  This is surprising news to a lot of people, especially since both of these treatment options are trying to achieve the same results – the reduction of wrinkles.

Botox and Dermal Fillers Eliminated Wrinkles and Fine Lines in Different Ways

The most important thing to understand is that while all of these options are intended to serve the same purpose, they go about it in different ways.  Botox Cosmetic is as a muscle relaxant which will help minimize facial lines.  Popular dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane literally fill in the wrinkles by adding volume to the target area.  Since they both utilize different strategies, they can easily be combined and work well together.  When done correctly, both of these injectables will work together for optimum wrinkle reversal.

One Big Difference

One of the biggest differences between Botox Cosmetic and other dermal fillers is where it is injected.  While they will both be injected into the same area of your face, Botox Cosmetic is injected into the muscle, whereas dermal fillers are injected under the superficial layer of skin.

Benefits of Combining Both Types of Injections

One of the primary reasons this strategy is becoming more popular is because it can lengthen how long the results last.  By targeting both the muscle and adding volume under the skin, you will normally experience longer lasting results.  This is particularly true for deep wrinkles.

Which Should Be Injected First?

There is no consensus over a specific step-by-step strategy which should be preferred.  Some plastic surgeons believe that using the filler first is ideal.  They believe it allows them to better identify the wrinkles which will require additional attention during the Botox Cosmetic injection.  On the other hand, other plastic surgeons prefer the Botox Cosmetic injection first because the filler can then be used to precisely fix any additional lines which can result from the muscle relaxation caused by Botox.

Are There Any Risks to Consider

Currently, there are no documented risks outside of the potential side effects already associated with dermal fillers and Botox Cosmetic.  The only additional consideration is whether or not you should have both injections on the same day or during the same session.  Some plastic surgeons prefer to wait 1 to 2 weeks, especially if Botox is injected first.  This allows Botox to take maximum effect and allows the dermal filler to easily fix the remaining fine lines.  At the same time, many patients are still using the all-at-once approach to avoid another follow-up appointment.  To date, no complications have been noted about doing both injections simultaneously.

There is no longer a reason to decide between Botox Cosmetic and dermal fillers.  While it was once considered an either/or decision, it has become common practice to use both options simultaneously in order to provide you with long-lasting results.
