The Difference Types of Breast Reconstruction

When it comes to breast reconstruction, there are many techniques that one can choose from. Your plastic surgeon or doctor will talk to you concerning these options and will help you decide the options that are best for you. However, it is also in your best interest that you do your very own research too so that you better understand the procedures. If you know of someone who has had breast reconstruction, you may want to talk to him/her to help you make the decision.

The techniques for Houston breast reconstruction that are available are such as breast implants and natural tissue flaps. There is not one method that can be termed to be the best as they each have their pros and cons. For instance, while breast implants may require less surgery than using body tissue, the results are not as natural looking as with the natural tissue flap breast reconstruction method. They, however, are fewer complications arising especially when the woman is properly prepped for the procedure.

Both of the breast reconstruction methods involve several steps both delayed and immediate. However, for both the procedures, one will have to be in the hospital early awaiting the first procedure.

There some different kinds of implants: silicone and saline. For both of the implants, however, their outer shell is made of silicone. The difference comes in with the substance that is used to fill the shell. The saline implants have salt water while the silicone implants are filled with silicone gel, a semi-solid substance that is made from silicone.

The tissue flaps, on the other hand, make use of tissue from the back, thigh, tummy or even buttocks to rebuild your breasts. The most common ones are such as the TRAM flap which makes use of tissue derived from the lower part of the abdomen. The second one is the Latissimus dorsi flap. in this, the tissue is gotten around the lower back. There are however other natural tissue flap techniques that are available and that are more specialized.
