Fractional Skin Rejuvenation – The Best of Both Worlds

Fractional skin rejuvenation is quickly proving to be an ideal solution for a variety of skin related problems.  Traditionally, there were only two laser therapy options.  They are ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing.  Fractional skin rejuvenation is designed to provide the best of both worlds while minimizing the associated drawbacks.  For some situations, fractional skin rejuvenation may not be the ideal solution.  The only way to know for sure is to consult your clinician and discuss your options.

Ablative and Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing

In order to understand what fractional skin rejuvenation offers, it is important to compare it to its predecessors.  Non-ablative laser skin resurfacing is a simple treatment which promotes collagen growth with minimal redness or swelling.  Unfortunately, it is limited in terms of what it is designed to treat and will require multiple treatments over several months to provide results, which can still be limited.  Ablative laser skin resurfacing uses vapor at, extremely high temperatures, which results in an increased risk of side effects and significantly longer healing time.

The Fractional Skin Rejuvenation Difference

Fractional skin rejuvenation is a procedure which highlights the benefits of both ablative and non-ablative skin resurfacing, while minimizing the drawbacks.  The laser is split into a large quantity of micro beams which allows you to target specific problem areas, yet not damage the entirety of your skin.  Instead, when the beams hit your skin surface, small areas of skin in between the beams are left intact.  This allows for swifter new collagen production, faster healing, and less downtime.

What Can Fractional Skin Rejuvenation Be Used for?

Fractional skin rejuvenation laser treatments have been shown to improve a variety of issues.  This includes fine lines, stretch marks, pigmentation issues, acne scars, and wrinkles.  One of the biggest benefits of fractional skin rejuvenation is that it can be used to treat all areas of your body.  Instead of focusing solely on your face, this technology can be safely used on your arms, abdomen, legs, chest, and back.

There are number of benefits that this technology offers, along with the ability to treat multiple areas of your body.  Compared to the two original types of laser treatments, you will experience minimal discomfort.  In fact, depending upon your treatments you may be able to apply makeup immediately following the procedure.  Another benefit is that this technology is extremely targeted which allows you to focus on specific problem areas effectively.

How Long Will It Take to See Results?

How quickly you see a result is primarily based upon the issue you are addressing.  In general terms, clinical studies have noted an average of five treatments at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks are required for most situations.  One of the reasons fractional skin rejuvenation has become popular is because it is extremely easy for you to customize your treatments.  Even though it may take multiple treatments to get the level of results you want, some results will be immediately noticeable.  To see your full results, it can take up to two or three months because this is the amount of time your body needs to complete the healing process and replace the damaged tissue with new collagen.
