Laser Tattoo Removal – How it works.

During your youth, getting a tattoo seems to be the best thing to do to get accepted by the gang. However as you grow older, you may want to have the tattoo removed for various reasons. To some, the tattoos make it difficult to get a job and for others, they may have different people or views in life than first inscribed in the tattoos.

So if you too are considering tattoo removal, tattoo removal is one of the best options available.

How it works

In laser tattoo removal, a laser is used to produce short and intense bursts of light that get absorbed by few skin layers found below the tattoo pigment. These pigment fragments are then absorbed by the body, and removed via the skin.

As these lasers are set at wavelengths and light pulses to affect only tattoo pigments and not normal pigments, your skin is not affected during the treatment. You will however have to undergo more than one laser tattoo removal procedure to have your tattoo removed.

Moreover, if the tattoo was done by a professional artist, the tattoo pigment will be evenly applied on your skin making it easy to remove the tattoo. Inexperienced tattoo artists apply tattoo pigment unevenly on the skin which is why additional procedures will be required to remove the tattoo.

Even the colors used in the tattoo have an effect on the  tattoo removal process. While black is easy to remove, colors like yellow and red take a longer time.

No anesthesia

Laser tattoo removal is relatively painless; at the most, you may experience a feeling like the snapping of a rubber band. While anesthesia is not required, your laser technician may apply some creams or fans to help reduce this feeling and in the process, quicken the healing process.

After care

It is important that you keep the area clean, and not pick on any scabs that form after  laser tattoo removal. The body requires 6-8 weeks to break down the tattoo pigments after the initial session.

It is at this point that the next treatment takes place; and the sequence follows till the tattoo fades. The number of treatments you will need depends on the tattoo; however on an average, you need 3-6  laser tattoo removal treatments for all the pigments to get absorbed by the body.

Tattoos range in different color. The laser removal technology is designed to target each and every color by using a particular wavelength of light, which will remove the ink.
