If You Haven’t Already – It’s Time to Try an Obagi Blue Peel

When it comes to getting a chemical peel, there are a growing number of products available.  The problem becomes identifying what the differences are in deciding which one is best for your skin.  The Obagi Blue Peel provides an excellent solution compared to the other options available.  Most people believe that all chemical peel treatments are the same but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

What Makes Obagi Blue Peel Different?

The first thing to keep in mind is that the Obagi Blue Peel utilizes trichloroacetic acid (TCA).  In some circles, TCA peels are referred to as freshening peels.  There are typically three different strengths of these chemical peels – low depth, medium depth, and deep.  One of the unique characteristics of the Obagi Blue Peel is that while it is a medium depth peel, it can actually be layered to achieve the depth which is best suited for your skin.  In most cases, you will have between one and four layers applied to your neck, shoulders, and face.

Being Blue Really Matters

Most people are shocked the first time that they see an Obagi Blue Peel because it is definitely an intense shade of blue.  What you may not realize is that this is actually the critical factor which sets this particular product apart from the rest.  Like all chemical peels, in order to achieve the proper depth, multiple layers may need to be applied.  Using the Obagi Blue Peel it couldn’t be easier for your technician to achieve the results you want.  By focusing on the specific shade of blue which is on your skin, your technician will know exactly how deep the appeal has gone.  This allows them to instantly know when they have plied the perfect amount of product for your skin.

What Should You Expect from the Treatment Process?

The process itself requires very little on your part.  Before the Obagi Blue Peel is applied, your skin will be thoroughly cleaned to ensure that you get the best results possible.  This also ensures that you don’t have any makeup residue or other chemicals on your face which could potentially react with the chemical peel.  Next, the technician will apply the chemical peel in layers.  Once the chemical peel has been added, the rest of the process will only take 10 to 20 minutes based upon your specific skin needs.  During this time, you may get treated with a cooling device or fan to reduce any discomfort.  In most cases, there may be a slight burning sensation for the first few minutes, although it should quickly dissipate.

Once the chemical peel is removed, there is no required downtime which means you can resume your daily activities immediately.  Keep in mind that some people, especially with lighter skin, may have a bluish tint to the treated area for 12 to 24 hours.  7 to 10 days after your treatment, the skin will begin to shed.  As this layer of skin is peeled away, a smoother, healthier layer of revitalized skin will be revealed.  From there, the skin will continue its natural healing process, which includes boosting the collagen production resulting in tighter, fresher, more toned skin.

Depending on your specific needs, there are a number of supplemental Obagi products which may be recommended to enhance your skin and improve your results.
