What is Laser Skin Resurfacing

Depending on how many areas are to be treated, the procedure can last 5 to 45 minutes.

What Happens After Laser Resurfacing

Sterile dressings are applied to the treated areas and must remain on for one to three days after the procedure. Once they are taken off, patients must clean the areas two to five times each day. Once clean, patients can apply an ointment to help treat the area. Healing can take 10 to 21 days.

Patients can wear oil-free makeup once the treated areas are healed. Make-up is recommended to camouflage the pink and red color that is usually seen after laser skin resurfacing. This redness usually fades within two to three months but those with blonde and red hair may find that it takes up to six months for it to fade completely.
