What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic medical procedure performed to scrub away dead skin cells and dirt from one’s outermost skin layer. This makes skin more radiant as the skin experiences improved circulation once the dead skin cells and dirt is removed.

Aluminum oxide crystals is used in microdermabrasion, which is also used for acne laser treatment Houston, stretch marks, for laser tattoo removal Houston, for treating clogged pores problems and to minimize stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion was formerly performed by certified dermatologists. However today, you can have it done in Houston med spas by trained medical professionals, or at home using a home microderbrasion kit. However do not overdo your microdermabrasion for acne as it can irritate and inflame the skin. If the micro dermabrasion kit instructions are precisely followed, at home microdermabrasion is quite safe and effective.

Basically, a microdermabrasion session lasts for about 20 to 30 minutes making it convenient for anyone to have it anytime. However one session is not usually sufficient to clear your skin; based on your skin problems and skin care needs, your dermatologist may suggest 6-9 sessions.

The procedure

A stream of micro-crystals is blasted on the skin surface to peel away the topmost layer of dead skin cells on the face. Using the machine vacuuming effect, dead skin debris and crystals are then removed from the skin surface.

As the skin may get slightly sensitive after you dermaplane Houston, make sure it is not rubbed raw. Also make it a point to use sunscreen to protect the skin as sunburn is more painful on tender skin.

Benefits of microdermabasion

The greatest benefit of the procedure is that there is no need of any anesthesia to perform it as there is not much pain involved. As only anti-bacterial crystals are used in the procedure, seldom do you experience any treatment risks.
