Why Women consider Undergoing Labiaplasty

The plastic surgery procedure used to reduce the size, and reshape both female external genitalia folds, the Labia Minora and/or the Labia Majora is called labiaplasty or labioplasty. It is generally women with large, asymmetrical and irregular Labia Minora and those whose labia have stretched and elongated because of childbirth or aging.

Women with large and irregular labia are usually uncomfortable and embarrassed during sexual intercourse. They also feel uncomfortable wearing bathing suits, jogging shorts, and tight clothes.

There are also some women who experience pain and irritation and feel that they cannot reach optimal sexual pleasures during intercourse because of their Labia Minora and thus consider undergoing labiaplasty for enhanced sexual pleasures.

Some women also develop full and large Labia Majora with obesity which becomes a noticeable nuisance while wearing tight pants, shorts, and bathing suits. Moreover, these enlarged Labia Majora traps moisture, and in the process, triggers skin irritation, rashes and promotes yeast infections.

Labiaplasty can help control and prevent all this in obese women. Labiaplasty has no interference with natural childbirth. In fact, labiaplasty makes childbirth easier.

Techniques used

The techniques usually used by Houston plastic surgeons and gynecologists in labiaplasty are direct excision and reduction method of labiaplasty where a long strip of the Labia Minora is excised. This leaves a surgical incision on the labia edge.

However, in the case of Brazilian Labiaplasty techniques, there are no scars and it also preserves maximum genital sensation. This technique looks natural and if clitoral de-hooding is done simultaneously, it helps increase the height and length of sexual pleasure in the woman.

Sometimes, the protuberance of Labia Majora is reduced using liposculpture and liposuction. This procedure can also be performed with Monsplasty, where the Mon Pubis is reduced and tightened.

Anesthesia

In order to reduce anxiety, labiaplasty is done under local anesthesia. However, the procedure is only about half an hour and is sometimes done with Vaginoplasty, tummy tuck Houston, Houston breast augmentation or any other procedures.

Recovery period

After labiaplasty, there may be some mild discomfort, swelling and bruising that lasts about two to seven days. There may be some spotting and urinary hesitancy in the woman, which can be solved by wearing pads and applying Neosporin ointment to the surgical sites.

It is permitted to wash and shower within six hours of surgery and as frequently as they wish thereafter. Though it is possible to return to sedate work within two days times, it is not advised to jog, run, bike, lift heavy things, go riding and having sexual intercourse for about four to six weeks.

Risks and complications

There are not many risks and complications associated with labiaplasty as it is a minor surgical procedure. The most you may experience are minor infections, scarring, bleeding, incision breakdown, irritation, and pain.
